How to book the best rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Brunswick area area. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the best vacation rental in Oak Island:

  • Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Plan your spring and summer vacation soon. Golf cart included has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Brunswick area attraction you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
