Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Choosing and booking your prefect Brunswick area vacation home:

  • To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Ocean views, large deck, only 180 ft. from Beach and Tiki Bar. Plus, Pet Friendl has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
