About this Property

  • 1 Bathrooms
  • Cottage
  • Approximately 1000 square feet

The Ruff Seas was originally constructed as a fisherman’s bungalow after hurricane Hazel. The home is on the woodland side of the island and a fast 7 min. walk to beach. This lot has an additional casual feel, as a neighboring lot is undeveloped. The bungalow sits back from the street. Behind a picket fence is the porch and it is really marvelous with floor to ceiling screening and unobstructed vistas of the flora and fauna.
coming in off the porch you enter a very comfortable and open living area that flows into a giant dining table and kitchen beyond.
There are so many extras..... A Carport to bring the groceries in when it rains or to put new wax on your surfboard. Outdoor shower to rinse off you and the seashells. Gas grille to prepare that fresh caught flounder.
Please come appreciate the pleasures of peaceful casual island living!

Strategies for getting the perfect Oak Island vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • In the Brunswick area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Brunswick area area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Quiet, Quaint, and Close to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

During your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
