About this Property

  • Sleeps 5
  • 3 Bedrooms
  • 1 Bathrooms
  • Cottage
  • Approximately 1000 square feet

The Ruff Seas was originally constructed as a fisherman’s bungalow after hurricane Hazel. The home is on the woodland side of the island and a fast 7 min. walk to beach. This lot has an additional casual feel, as a neighboring lot is undeveloped. The bungalow sits back from the street. Behind a picket fence is the porch and it is really excellent with floor to ceiling screening and unobstructed vistas of the flora and fauna.
coming in off the porch you enter a very comfortable and open living area that flows into a humongous dining table and kitchen beyond.
There are so many extras..... A Carport to bring the groceries in when it rains or to put new wax on your surfboard. Outdoor shower to rinse off you and the seashells. Gas grille to prepare that fresh caught flounder.
Please come appreciate the pleasures of peaceful casual island living!

How to book the best Oak Island vacation property experience:

Get the best value:

  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Brunswick area area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Quiet, Quaint, and Close to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
