Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Brunswick area area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. The Sunset Bungalow- Dog Friendly-2.7 Miles to Downtown Wilmington, NC!
has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search. - Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Brunswick area destination you crave, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
