Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- In the Brunswick area area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental home in Holden Beach:
- First and foremost, have your family choose the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Pirates Paradise - Short walk to Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the rental manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be respectful. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
