Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Finding the best value:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Reserve your Brunswick area rental home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental in Bald Head Island:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Shifting Sands is the ultimate in BHI oceanfront living! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a particular Brunswick area attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
