Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitors guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect rental in the Brunswick area area:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Comfy and tasteful 4 BR \/ 3 Full Bath Duplex. All linens and towels included has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
