Tips and Tricks to get the best Brunswick area vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Summer is high season in Sunset Beach. To find the largest rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 355 Sandpiper Jake by Sunset Vacations has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
