Located on a secluded salt marsh tidal creek that leads to the close by Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean via kayak or canoe, Eagle Point on the Bay offers the privacy, beauty, and nature of a rural location, yet is close to urban, coastal, and academic amenities. Near the neighborhoods of Porters Neck and Figure Eight Island, the home is 3 miles to major grocery stores, coffee stores, eateries, shopping, and a seafood market. Sensational beaches at the coastal community of Wrightsville Beach are only 15 mins. where there is also a branch of the New Hanover County Public Library, a health food store, and kayak/paddleboard/watersport units. The colonial city of Wilmington and its historic district and riverfront park is only 14 miles. Other area attractions include Airlie Gardens, the North Carolina Aquarium, the Boardwalk at Carolina Beach, historic Fort Fisher, and the Battleship North Carolina. There are many golf courses in the area.
Most of the neighbors are permanent residents. Bald Eagle Lane dead ends with only a handful of homes beyond ours, and so there is very little traffic, certainly no through traffic, making it ideal for bicycling and walking. From our front porch and street view between the single row of waterfront homes to the Intercoastal Waterway and the vast salt marsh across which sits the oceanfront private barrier island of Figure Eight Island (gated community). The view from the back of the home is across the tidal creek to the other shore lined with century old live oaks and the private, exclusive golf course Eagle Point adding to the green and natural vistas.
Appreciate birdwatching for osprey, herons (great grey, white, green), pelicans, kingfishers, cardinals, and maybe catch a glimpse of the shy, brightly-colored painted bunting. From our private pier and dock we appreciate, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and watching the sunset and tidal shifts. With the daily changing tide, every 24 hours the creek water level swings through a spectacular breathtaking high tide, at times nearly to pier level, through a "dead" low tide exposing areas of the creek bottom and its breeding ground for schools of leaping minnows and crabs. A channel running in front of the pier accepts for kayak launch most of the time to access the bay and beyond to the Intercoastal Waterway and salt marsh explorations. We have three sit-on-top kayaks available for your use: a two-person kayak; a one-person kayak; and a one-person fishing kayak. Walking or swimming in the creek is not allowed due to sharp oyster shells and unstable mud creek bottom. For information about tide rise and fall (water depth) consult local tide charts. The creek may not be navigable at the lowest tide.
The home has two bedrooms and full bath on the ground level, two bedrooms and full bath on the second level, and additional half-bath on ground level. Two of the bedrooms have a T.V., and the T.V.s with their Roku boxes can be moved to a different bedroom as needed. Two of the common areas have a TV. The light and airy sunroom is lined with enormous windows overlooking the salt marsh and tidal creek. Also on the ground level is a private den, family room, kitchen with connected dining area overlooking the salt marsh creek. Surrounding the home are native plants including live oak tree, cherry blossom, and dogwood trees providing ample shade, as well as azalea and holly berry shrubs, palmetto trees, and lawn areas. Detached from the home is a wooden shaded gazebo with a porch swing with a view of the waterfront, a pretty spot during summer rain showers. Other outside spaces include a sizable deck off the sunroom, a modest deck off the kitchen/dining with a close by rope hammock, and a modest front porch.
In addition to all the basic furnishings, equipment, and supplies, please feel complimentary to use any of our books, cards, games, puzzles, yoga mat, bicycles (4) and two kayaks. Lifejackets are located in the garage and must be worn at all times when using the kayak. Kids must be accompanied by adults on the kayaks. Parties and events are not allowed.

Strategies for getting the perfect Wilmington rental experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. Reserve your Brunswick area rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many property management companies supply Brunswick area area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting the best vacation home in Wilmington:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Waterfront house. Pier, kayak, fishing, privacy, nature. Near beaches, boating. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
