How to find the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Brunswick area area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Secluded private OceanFront 3BR Condo steps from the pool golf course and ocean! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
