Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Selecting and booking your Brunswick area rental home:

  • Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. OKI Beach Retreat - Relax, Bike, Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rentals search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
