Strategies to get the best rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Brunswick area area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the perfect vacation home in Oak Island:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Ocean Treasure - ocean views,142 steps to beach, 3,200', immaculate, 5 bd 5 bath has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
