Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:

When to reserve a Brunswick area rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Great Family Get-Away, Walk to Beach & Restaurants, Big Fenced Yard has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
