Our top Brunswick area vacation rental home tips:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Brunswick area area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the perfect vacation home:

  • Select your dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. FoxSea in the Heart of OKI, 1 block from boat ramp and 10 minute walk to beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
