Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick your prefectrental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Boat life at the beach, 36ft sailboat at Carolina Beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
