Tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Brunswick area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose and book yourrental:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. ‘B’ by the Sea: comfort and style, essentials included! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
