Strategies to get the perfect Oak Island rental experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summer time is high season in the Brunswick area area. To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Brunswick area attractions.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Brunswick area area visitors guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Become an AQUAHOLIC in this oceanfront, dog friendly home on Oak Island! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If not, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
