Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Oak Island rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Oak Island. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Brunswick area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Brunswick area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing yourvacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Happier Than a Byrd with a French Fry: West Beach Home with Ocean Views and Easy has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
During your stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
