Tricks and tips for getting the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • In the Brunswick area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Oak Island. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Choosing and booking your Brunswick area rental home:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 6BR\/5BA Home - 2nd Row,Ocean Views,Events,Pool,Elevator, Sleeps 18 has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If not, email or call the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or could be applied to your invoice.
  • If there's a specific Brunswick area beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
