My grandfather was a man for adventure. In the summer of 1946, having bought a remote property on Oak Island accessible only by ferry, then by Jeep, he loaded up a crew from his rug mill in Troy and constructed a cabin on the highest dune for hundreds of miles. At the close of World War II, America was excited by the promise of development; today we seek visitors who will appreciate the originality that this property represents. Above the home the lookout tower retains a remarkable 360 degree view of ocean and river, original live oaks, distant lights, blinking water towers and fireworks — from Bald Head Island to the South Carolina border. The home overlooks more than a quarter-mile of undeveloped, south-facing beachfront with nearly half a mile behind of undisturbed, original maritime forest, with new stairs down the hill to access our dock on Davis Creek. The intracoastal waterway beckons beyond..The bungalow remains as it was, four bedrooms and three baths. Knotty pine walls and oak floors glow with 70 years of patina. A screened front porch runs the full width of the home. Tall windows open in every room, one with a big sink installed to wash a new infant, my mother, Blanche. The kitchen and back porch were remodeled in 2005, with heat and air-conditioning installed throughout the home.Folly Hills is a singular experience for up to 10 people. If you’re looking for dry-walled bedrooms, wall-to-wall carpeting and granite bathrooms, this is not your home. If you want to open the windows and let the warm ocean breeze blow through, savor sunset beverages on the lookout tower, go crabbing from the dock behind the home, walk down your private access to a giant expanse of white sand beach, details of 75 years of history, the world’s most fabulous outdoor shower — this is an enchanting experience of original North Carolina beach like you’ll find nowhere else.

Ocean Front - private walkway to the beach. This 6bedroom ocean front masterpiece with elevator and private pool has more amenities than anything else on the island- equipped for fun. Linens are not included, but can be added for additional cost. We can help put you in touch with a local service to handle this very economically if needed. Pool can be heated, is optional, and would be additional cost. We can help you with access to a discounted golf cart- ask us. Located in Ocean Isle Beach’s private gated community, 7 Coggeshall comfortably sleeps 18 guests with 6 huge bedrooms, and 6 full bathrooms and 2 additional half bathrooms. The Master bedroom has a king bed, ocean front view via huge windows and double glass door, private exit and balcony, and its own bespoke tile showers, with double sinks. All bedrooms have wall mounted flat screen TV's with hi definition cable, and private bathrooms. All floor is "real wood", not laminate, and very comfortable, modren, and very elegantly done. Many of the rooms have vaulted or additional high ceilings giving this already enormous 3000 sf home a great feel of roominess and comfort. If you want a calming place to "chill out" after a day's fun on the beach or golf, this is it. There are so many entertainment opportunities within this place (designed for family fun), your extended family or adult couples group may never want to leave the home. Entertainment is simple for multiple families with two separate living rooms, both with sizable 70” flat screen TV’s and state of the art sound systems, supported by a whole home music system for indoor and outdoor enjoyment. Corn hole, private Bocce Ball Court, Horseshoes Pit, Arcade Room, Bikes, Kayak, Private Heated Pool, Elegant Pool Table, Ping Pong Table, Foosball, Board Games... sounds like a lot, but there is much more. Two huge fridges, sizable kitchen with gas range, outdoor kitchen, and 2 sets of washer/dryer will all be much appreciated by the guests who have the privilege of being responsible for cleaning, cooking, or both. The appliances are all fresh and large and painless to use. Granite countertops throughout and other nice fresh furnishings, interior decor are a constant theme for this marvelous home. The kitchen area is large and roomy and features a gas range. There are separate decks on the front and rear. All oceanside decks along the home are covered. Guests can keep themselves in the shade or sun through the day as they choose. Beach gazing is easy from either oceanside deck,as guests have a handsome view of the surf.. See the water on all sides of the home.
