Bring a book or take a book at the little complimentary library there. The walkway crosses over the Marshlands. You’ll want a camera for this jaunt as well. There is often wildlife to capture your attention. If you want a nice walk, take the 19th Street Walkway to the other side & walk west to the 9th Street Walkway & back. Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. To book the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Views from Front Deck and Marsh views from Back Deck has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
  • If there's an individual Brunswick area attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
