Our top Oak Island rental home tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Brunswick area area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental in Oak Island:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Tupelo Honey. Great location for Families, Friends, Couples and Dogs.???? has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, contact the host before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • If there's a certain Brunswick area destination you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
