Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Brunswick area area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Stylish 3 bedroom home 10 minutes from beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
