Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. - Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.

- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
