22 North Restaurant

22 North is a highly acclaimed Wrightsville Beach restaurant that serves up classic southern fare with a Creole and French flair. Located on Lumina Avenue, just a block or so away from the Causeway to the beach, this fresh restaurant is one of the region’s favorite destinations for a tempting evening of fine dining cuisine.

The menu changes regularly, (almost daily), and an array of daily offerings is often splattered on the specials board enticing patrons to settle in for a big meal. Tasty entrees can include coastal staples like shrimp and grits, Outer Banks scallops, and Mahi Mahi, while meat eaters may be tempted by the classics like Porterhouse pork chop or duck confit. Patrons can start with a fresh appetizer, like the seasonal crab bruschetta, shrimp remoulade, or pork cheek and grits, and patrons will want to save plenty of room for dessert, which can include anything from seasonal berry tarts or cobblers to decadently rich chocolate cake. Because the menu changes so often, diners won’t quite know what to expect, but the short and flavorful menu is sure to have a surprising dish or two that will satisfy any foodie. Good for late-night cocktails and indulgent meals, 22 North is changing the way Wrightsville Beach fans envision a fine dining experience.

Once you have your coastal recreational fishing license in hand, it’s time to start thinking about gear. Anglers will find tons of options when it comes to equipment for casting into the surf, from custom designed rods and reels at local tackle shops, to name brand varieties that are designed for multiple areas along the coastline. Here are just a few of the most popular gear options for surf fishermen. Keep in mind that there are endless options available, and your local bait and tackle store staff will be happy to point you in the right direction if you have any questions about what you’ll need for successful surf fishing in any given area along the North Carolina coastline.

Freeman Park

The northernmost coastal region of Carolina Beach is home to the Freeman Park Recreation Area, a stretch of shoreline that is well known to adventurous, beach-loving 4WD truck owners. Unlike other stretches of the barrier islands off the coast of Wilmington, this park is special because it is completely undeveloped, and allows beach driving to off-roaders who like to cruise along the sand.
