Our top Brunswick area rental home tips and tricks:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in the Brunswick area area. Booking your Brunswick area vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Brunswick area area travel guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Saw Mill Sunset Beach, NC has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's an individual Brunswick area beach you love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
