Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. River Creek - 2001 - 1st Floor Unit has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
