Our top Oak Island vacation rental booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Brunswick area area. Reserve your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Make a plan and pick the best Brunswick area vacation home:

  • Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Perfect for multi-family gatherings! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Brunswick area destination you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
