Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Brunswick area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Historic Home in Downtown Wilmington - One Block from Riverwalk -King Size Beds has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
