Rental home booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Bald Head Island. To find the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Brunswick area area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Gorgeous 4 Bedroom Home In Cape Fear Station has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Brunswick area attraction you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
