Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Brunswick area area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best rental home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Fire Hut, Bald Head Island Element\/Studio On Marina has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. message the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
