Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • To find the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Brunswick area area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Brunswick area rental home:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Cozy, Clean, Family & Pet friendly, Walking Downtown, Brooklyn Arts District has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Brunswick area attraction you are enamored with, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
