Our top Wilmington vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. Reserve your Brunswick area rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Brunswick area area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the perfect rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Downtown Wilmington home in the Historic District, near to Cape Fear River Walk has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. message the host right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
