Strategies to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season in Wilmington. To find the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Classic, Comfortable, Convenient - the best of Old Wilmington has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Brunswick area destination you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
