Our top Oak Island vacation rental home tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Oak Island. Book your Brunswick area vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Brunswick area area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Finding the perfect rental in the Brunswick area area:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Charming 1960s Cottage 5 Min Beach and Shops has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your group.
  • If there's an individual Brunswick area beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
