Tips to get the best Wilmington vacation property experience:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • Summer is high season in the Brunswick area area. To get the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Brunswick area attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Wilmington:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Casa Verde - 3 Condos in Historic Downtown Home has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a specific Brunswick area beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of concerns.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
