Oak Island rental booking tips and tricks:

When to visit Oak Island & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Brunswick area area. Book your Brunswick area rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local tours and attractions.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Select a group leader, select your dates, and select a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Private Saltwater Pool, With Excellent Ocean Views And Only 2 Blocks From the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches. See for yourself by scanning the QR code and call Victory Beach Vacations at 910.458.0868 to book your Cape Fear getaway. Start making your memories today! —Grace Silipigni
