Booking the best Brunswick area vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best rental in Oak Island:
- To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. All Decked Out: Spectacular Home with Pool, Elevator, Ample Outdoor Living Space has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
