Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Brunswick area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental home in Oak Island:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. The Honey Hole-Nice house offering Open Floor Plan 3 Minute walk to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Brunswick area beach you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
