Tips to get the best rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and pick the right Brunswick area rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Sea Side Farm House in the heart of everything Wilmington reg. # STL 2019-0113 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
