We know you want to relax without stopping at the store when you get to the island. To get you started, we provide a welcome kit that includes trash bags, paper towels, toilet paper, dishwasher pod, washing machine pod, dishwashing soap, hand soap at every sink, bath soap, and shampoo/conditioner.

As you will find when selecting dates on the calendar, there are minimum stay requirements based on the season. There is a 7 nighttime minimum with a mandatory Saturday to Saturday rental pattern in the peak summer months, and there is more flexibility in the slower seasons. Located near the beach, this vacation home is in Long Beach, a neighborhood in Oak Island. Smith Island Museum of History and Franklin Square Gallery are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include Bald Head Island Lighthouse and Old Brunswick County Jail Museum. Bald Head Island Information Center and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are also worth visiting. Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in Oak Island. To find the best value, change your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
