Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Brunswick area area. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Make a plan and choose the bestrental home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Nathans Cottage Lower - Bottom floor duplex next to Oceanic Pier has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Brunswick area destination you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
