Our top Rental home tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. To get the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose and book a perfectrental home:

  • Start by choosing vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Maggie's Midtown Cottage has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the host before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
