Tricks and tips to get the optimal Brunswick area vacation property experience:

When to visit Oak Island & When to reserve a Brunswick area rental home:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Oak Island. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Brunswick area visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • To start, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. La Isla Bonita: Dog-friendly Home with Spacious Game Room, Close to Scenic Cross has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is suitable for your group.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
