Tips to get the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Brunswick area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cutest Cottage Steps from the Beach - All Linens and Towels Provided! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a certain Brunswick area beach you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
