Our top Rental booking tips:

When to go & When to book:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Wilmington:

  • To start, have your family choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Classic estate home in heart of Downtown Wilmington curated for entertaining has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Brunswick area attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

More considerations:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
