Tricks and tips to get the perfect Oak Island vacation property experience:

Get the most from your budget:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Brunswick area area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose your prefectrental:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Blue Heron: Home with Pool, Elevator, Close to Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
