Hazel- 3 Bedroom 2.5 Bath House, 2nd Row with Ocean Vistas, Dog Friendly, Sleeps 6
****Pool heating available October - April for an additional fee - see details below!****
This cozy and comfortable 2nd row beach bungalow is not only ideally located for your beach vacation with the public beach access just 3 homes down and Ocean Crest Pier right close by, but also comes with a lot of spectacular history! The home was named Hazel for her marvelous strength and might during Hurricane Hazel which devastated Oak Island in 1954. This home was one of only five homes on the entire island that survived the storm. The original solid cinder blocks with which the home was constructed in 1953 are still intact. Hazel was completely & lovingly restored in 2020, offering you all the modern amenities you are used to in a nice and cozy space to call home while you relax at the beach. You will want for nothing here! An broad screened porch, in-ground pool (with pool heating available for an additional fee), and enclosed outdoor shower were also added during the 2020 renovations. You are sure to adore the privacy fence surrounding the pool where you can lounge to your heart's content without all the sand. From the pool area you can access the lower level of the home where you will find a half bathroom and ping-pong table. After gathering your fresh catch from a calming day of fishing out on the beach or at the Ocean Crest Pier, you can come back and grille out the best seafood you've ever tasted! Sit back on the comfortable screened porch and savor your morning coffee or an evening glass of good old southern sweet tea to witness the most spectacular Oak Island sunrises and sunsets paint the sky. Plenty of seating for everybody! If you feel like getting out, there’s tons to do and see on and around Oak Island. Don’t forget the Summer Concerts at Middleton Park, just a few mins.’ drive away. As you experience Hazel, you are sure to find yourself being strengthened and renewed from the storms of everyday life, just as this mighty home, aptly named, encourages us all to be strong and keep living life to the fullest. Tips to get the perfect Brunswick area rental home experience:
Get the best value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Brunswick area restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Brunswick area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation home:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 3BR\/2.5BA House - 2nd Row, Ocean Views, POOL, DOG FRIENDLY, Sleeps 6 has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Brunswick area vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
